Doctrine and Covenants 71 - 75
Matthew 8:23–27, Mark 4:36–41; Luke 8:22–25
Can you learn of things from the world about Christ?
1 Corinthians 2:14
1 Corinthians 12:3
You need to have the holy ghost confirm it to you, the world (natural man) will not be able to do it. With the tempest of the world you are under the dominion of something, If you want to have fear and not trust the Lord that is fine but just know there are those always seeking to influence you even when you might think they are not. You either being influenced by God or by his opposition.
2 Thessalonians 2 Matthew’s Pools Commentary
Matthew Poole was an English Nonconformist theologian and biblical commentator, born in 1624 in York, England. He is best known for his work "Synopsis Criticorum Biblicorum," a monumental commentary that summarizes the views of one hundred and fifty biblical critics. Poole's magnum opus was written in Latin and is currently being translated into English by the Matthew Poole Project
“And this man of sin is not a single person but a company, order, and succession of men; because all are acted by the same spirit…” (son of perdition)
In the April 2024 we had the prophet ask us to read section 109 of the Doctrine and Covenants. I would like us to turn to verses 109:29-30, Revelation 12:10-11.
“..since that experience, I have tried to take up my cross more earnestly, which more resolve to find where I can raise an apostolic voice of both warmth and warning in the morning, during the day, and into the night
President Holland says: Near death:
Ezra Booth - https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/revelations-in-context/ezra-booth-and-isaac-morley?lang=eng
He was upset that Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon left for Missouri on a wagon and he had to walk (to Missouri)
When Ezra Booth finally arrived in Missouri, he felt deflated. He and others “expected to find a country abounding with the necessaries and comforts of life.” Instead, he looked around and noted that “the prospect appeared somewhat gloomy.” (Zion)
Reynolds Cahoon, saw exciting possibilities in these symbolic beginnings. “There my mortal eyes beheld grate and marvilous things,” he wrote, “such as my eyes once never even contemplated of seeing in this world.” But Ezra Booth was unimpressed by the meager start. It was “a curiosity,” he said, “but not worth going to Missouri to see.
A further revelation on August 1 (Doctrine and Covenants 58) instructed the missionaries to dedicate the land but hinted that Zion would be built up only “after much tribulation.” The revelation chastised those who, like Ezra Booth, had complaints. “They say in their hearts this is not the work of the Lord for his promises are not fulfilled.” It warned that “their reward lurketh beneath & not from above.”
Capsize the canoes, endangering the lives of those who could not swim. (This was probably the final pull for Ezra Booth)
These are the leaders of the church, and the only church on earth the Lord beholds with approbation
Testimony - DC 71
Bear your testimony and by your testimony
What should believers do in a case like that? While there is not one right answer for every situation, it seems that often—including in this case in 1831—part of the Lord’s answer is to declare the truth and correct falsehoods by “proclaiming [the] gospel”
We have a section here this loaded with amazing stuff. Josph and Sidney Rigdon where told to hold off the translation of the Bible and to go and preach the gospel to go and expound the “mystries therof out of the scriptures. “ -v1. They are to go about and start going against the things that Ezra Booth started to post as anti-christ stuff towards the church. How where they suppose to do this. Well in publin and private the Lord wants us to understand that we need to “prepare a way for the comments and revelations which are to come.”-v4
For me and you as readers of this stuff we need to be reading the revelations and then also understanding why the Lord is giving this to Joseph - v5-6
We see we need to “labor in his vineyard” v-4

Child Baptism DC 74
this is interesting because it kind of reads like Joseph smith is giving an explanation from learning from the scripture study
Traditions, we have so many traditions in the church and from other things in life we cannot give up, this is a reminder that the Lords way will is not our way.
Baptism is the Christian equivalent of circumcision, or “the circumcision of Christ”: “In him you were also circumcised with . . . the circumcision of Christ, having been buried with him in baptism and raised with him through your faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead” (Col. 2:11–12). Thus, like circumcision, baptism can be given to children as well as adults. The difference is that circumcision was powerless to save (Gal. 5:6, 6:15), but “[b]aptism . . . now saves you” (1 Pet. 3:21)
Proclaim my Gospel DC 75
What can you take from the previous chapter and the lesson and put it into section 75?
